Week in Review...

Rick took the kids swimming a few weeks ago and snapped this shot. They sure love to swim!
Here is my little American Ninja Warrior. Have you seen that show? Those people can do some amazing things and Ashlyn is hooked! I found her hanging off of a wall shelf that we have in her room. She is so strong, Jacob is trying to walk up the hallway walls, it is crazy! They sure are cute though!
For my birthday weekend all I wanted to do was go swimming! Theres only one pool open and it's only open on the weekends until the end of August so we took advantage. Abby has figured out that theres a shallow beach part where she can crawl around. She now has no desire to go in the deeper areas and be held, she wants to be free to roam around. This girl will hopefully be swimming next summer!

She didn't want to take a pic, she wanted to crawl around!
I bought a used oven from a guy that was flipping a home, it's a glass top which is what I've always wanted! I got it for $50, works great! No more fires in the coil burners!
For my birthday, Abby gave me the best present of all! She took her first steps! It was so super cute! Now she's trying to toddle all around. She can only take about two little tiny steps, once she took about 4 but she's getting there! I went crazy with all of the free birthday stuff! Got my cold stone, firehouse subs and even a Del Taco shake! It was a great day!
Abby liked the little firehouse subs hat!
We have our appt for the feeding therapist on Sept. 16th, but everyday I pray that we won't have to go. I just want her to start eating on her own! We try everyday to feed her, so wish us luck!

Week in Review...

Rick and Abby at church last week after she had just woken up.
I decided to try out rock climbing again, its been since I was in girls camp! It was fun, scary and hard! My hands hurt the most! Rick and I are going to get certified so that we can belay the kids on the wall. When Haley turns 13 she can get certified too.

It was another good week of school for the kids. Rick took the kids swimming on Saturday. I took Abby to the dr this week because she is pushing out all of her food with her tongue. Instead of pushing her tongue back into her mouth and swallowing, her tongue pushs all of her food out. So I'm nursing every 1-2 hours during the day. It's crazy. They're checking with our insurance to see if we can get her some feeding therapy, I'm guessing that they will somehow teach her to eat while pushing her tongue back?? It seems like an impossible task to me, how do you teach yourself to change something you don't even think about doing? So, yes I'm having a little bit of anxiety about all of this and some bits of depressing times because I can't leave the house for more than an hour. As you can imagine, she is literally starving and I'm her only source of nutrition and I'm not providing her with enough nutrition, so it's an endless cycle for me. I'm hoping this week will bring lots of good information and we can move forward to her feeding from real food. She wants to eat anything and everything, she will put anything into her mouth, it just all ends up coming straight out of her mouth instead of back into her throat.:( Wish us luck!!

Week in Review...

Last weekend was a little overcast so it was perfect for the kids to play outside. They got out the slip n slide and then set up the slide with a hose running down it. Abby was staring longingly out the door, so we undressed her and she had a blast too!

Earlier in the day, Rick and I placed these stones around the tree. It helps with watering and it looks pretty.

I was looking through my nana's journal and found this picture of a swing that they outside of their home. I have fond memories of swinging in this every time we would go and visit with them. I love how my Nana was such a detailed journaler. I love that she would include pictures and details of her day. She recorded the day of my birth and it's so interesting to hear her perspective of the event. I'm grateful that she recorded all that she did, I believe that I have this desire to journal because of her great example to me.
Haley was encouraged to wear make-up to church for the first time ever last weekend by her cousin Anna! Haley was so extremely nervous about it and was asking us the whole time during church if she looked ok?? Needless to say as soon as she got home she cleaned it off and hasn't worn it since! I guess she just isn't ready yet:).
Rick and I celebrated our 14th Anniversary this week on the 5th. I met him at work and we went to Red Robin for lunch. It was nice that we could sit and chat, and then I went to Ikea which is right near his work. He came home with flowers and chocolate! Great guy!
Abby even enjoyed some cake! We are having a hard time with getting her to eat. She only wants to nurse, we will give her food and she will chew it and then spit it out or dig it out of her mouth. She cries when she accidentally swallows some food. It's making me very nervous, when I talked to her dr about it he didn't seem concerned but a mother always worries!
On Wednesday the kids all started school. Going off of our experience from last year, we left extra early and this year we didn't have to make the long hike up the hill to get to school, we actually got a parking spot! Jacob has Mrs. Purcell and is in 1st grade. He had a funny experience when he was lining up there was this extra friendly little boy who wanted to be Jacobs friend, so I had him introduce himself, they got in line together and off they went. Later Jacob came home saying that that boy was actually in kindergarten! Kinda funny and kinda sad!
Ashlyn is in Mrs. Scow's 3rd grade class. She's excited because Mrs. Scow was her long term substitute last year while her teacher was on maternity leave, so she already knows and loves her!

Abby didn't mind waiting for the kids to go to school...with her crazy hair!
Haley is starting at Fremont Junior High this year, wahoo! It's right down the street so as soon as it cools down she will scooter on down there! She is excited to be in 7th grade and has a few friends in each of her classes and is getting the routine down.
Abby is enjoying the extra one on one time until we start up our daycare and she loves these stacking cups! She could do them all day long!

I decided that before the daycare starts that I would freshen up the house a bit by painting our front room. It went from brown to grey.

I like it, although Rick thinks it is blue or purple! Too funny!

Week in Review...

So our dryer ended up miraculously working again, it seems to have 9 lives! Yea! The next day our garbage disposal died! ha! It seems like most of our appliances are just hanging in there and we keep figeting with them and they just keep ticking! Blessings for sure!

We took the kids rock climbing again and Ashlyn wanted to try a really hard course. She was told that it would be too hard for her, but she wanted to give it a try. She ended up making it to the top! She is persistent!

Jacobs kindergarten teacher was emptying her computer in preparation for the new school year and sent us some pics that she found, it was a cute treat!

Haley and her friend Savannah, Savannah is the Beehive President and Haley is her 1st counselor. They went to the Bishops Storehouse to serve, they had a great time!
Abby, all tuckered out from playing...
still has some energy to kick though...:)
