It was a great week! We are so thankful for all of our family.
This week, on Wednesday, Rick had surgery to fix his deviated septum; his nostrils were collapsing when he would breathe. We didn't completely comprehend what a big recovery it would look like. The nurse said that it's similar to the recovery of getting your tonsils out. As soon as Rick got out of surgery, he was moaning in pain. Seeing him in pain was really hard for me. He had a lot of bleeding out of his nose. The nurse was giving me a million directions at once, and she was giving Rick a bunch of meds, and I think I got overwhelmed and started feeling sweaty, lightheaded, and nauseous. I told the nurse that I felt lightheaded and went to lay my head down on the bed rail, and luckily she grabbed me, because I would've hit my head. She said that she sees it a lot with people who don't think they're going to react to blood, and then they do. It took me about 10 minutes, but I was able to come around and eventually drive Rick home. We were close to calling Jacob to come and get us. We were about an hour away, though, so I wanted to drive home if I could. We made it home safe, and Rick has had a rough recovery, but he seems to be past the worst part now. We can't wait until he gets his stents out on Tuesday and will hopefully be breathing better than ever before.
