Just working out in 113 degree heat like it's no big deal! ha!! It actually was a big deal! But it's not a big deal, unless it's documented right??
I did the cute character thing, before I knew it was bad. They're so stinking cute though!!
On Tuesday and Thursday I did the craziest thing that I've ever done and will probably ever do! I tested airplane evacuation slides! The first day was a dark as night simulation and we went into a pitch black warehouse, up some lit up stairs and then corralled us into a room tightly packed together. They said that when the lights started flickering we had to run. So we all started running when the lights flickered and we were in 2 lines. When we turned the corner out of the room, there was the slide. We didn't have time to think we just had to run and jump onto the slide. It was crazy! As soon as all 44 of us had slid down successfully, you literally have to hit the ground running or risk getting trampled on, they turned on the lights. All of these bigwig guys were there from Boeing and other airlines and they reviewed the film and then came out and told us we had passed the test. We all needed to get out in 30 seconds and we did it in 28! Then they answered our questions, it was fascinating! The slide acts like a cars airbag, when they open the plan door it inflates in less than 6 seconds. It can also act as a boat, and they have to test how many people they can fit on it. Then I went back on Thursday thinking it would be more of the same thing, boy was I wrong! This time the warehouse was all lit up, we were all aware of how the slide works and we literally slid down at least 25-30 times! They had us sliding at different air pressures and we had to pass certain times. It was nerve wracking, physically tiring, hot and I was exhausted. I also managed to get 2 bruises on my knee and jammed my ring finger. It's fine, I just can't get my ring off. haha! I signed up for 2 more days in July, but I'm dreading going back. It was so tough!! The pay is amazing though, so if I can stick it out for 2 more days then we will have paid off our Tahoe rental place.
The Wrights from my hometown of Livermore have moved to Arizona! They bought some egg rolls from Ashlyn and picked them up after picking up their grandson from the airport by us. He's going to the at home MTC in their home before he leaves for Tacoma, Wa. It was fun reminiscing with them, they told their grandson that if it hadn't been for my sister Kelli sharing their gospel with their daughter Tricia that he wouldn't be serving a mission.
We are trying to stay cool in the extreme heat that we are having, swimming lots but still managing to get outside for a little exercise.
Happy Fathers Day to my dad, Ricks dad and Rick! We are so grateful for good fathers, they make a world of difference!!
