Week in Review...

We got a little bit of rain this week! We are hoping to get more this week, we are also getting a cool down this week so that will be nice! I won't know what to do with myself in the 90's! ha!

The kids babysat our neighbors and of course, they took lots of pics of their dogs...

Abby had her first sleepover! Her friend Nova, who also happens to live across the street spent the night on Monday. It was Abby's first sleepover and I was nervous that they would stay up all night. I read them a book and sang them a song and then left....I listened at the door and it was quiet. I went back to check on them about 10 minutes later and they were out, fast asleep! Best sleepover ever!! haha! Then they wanted to try sleeping over at Nova's house a few nights later and Abby came running back around 7:30 p.m. reminded me of all of the times that I chickened out of sleeping over at friends' houses too. She'll get there...they had fun together when they woke up!

Ashlyn got her braces off! Now she gets to wear a retainer full time for 6 months, which she isn't excited about, but it's what we do for our teeth!

I have some big plans for this bathroom this week! Stay tuned....

I cleaned a house last week and almost stepped on this guy barefoot!! aaahhhhh!! luckily he was dead and I quickly got my shoes back on!

Rick and I were able to go to an Improv show on Saturday night, it was fun to get out and laugh...

Ashlyn had girls camp this week! They were all set to go up into the mountains and then all the fires happened. Within 24 hours the girl's camp leaders came up with an amazing plan b option. They all stayed at the girl's camp leaders' home, they got to go ax throwing, go rock climbing, go on a scavenger hunt, and lots of other fun activities with fun food. They also got to do a lake day! The lake day turned into quite an experience, Ashlyn got thrown off a tube, her knee hit her friend's face and her friend got a concussion. She had to be rushed to the E.R. Her mother texted me wondering how Ashlyn was doing? I hadn't heard a thing, so I texted the YW president who had me talk to Ashlyn on the phone, she said that her knee hurt and she couldn't straighten it but she didn't want to come home. We left her there and she came home the next day, not able to walk very well. I took her to the urgent care and they said her knee was sprained and not broken, she also got whiplashed. Her neck hurts worse than her knee. Poor girl, I told her that maybe she shouldn't go tubing anymore and she said no way! Ugh!!

I'm all done with school for the summer, that's why I'm starting on house projects. haha!

Week in Review...

Just working out in 113 degree heat like it's no big deal! ha!! It actually was a big deal! But it's not a big deal, unless it's documented right??

The state of Arizona is on fire, we are praying for rain and especially praying that Ashlyn gets to go to girls camp on Wednesday! Look at that smokey sun!

I did the cute character thing, before I knew it was bad. They're so stinking cute though!!

On Tuesday and Thursday I did the craziest thing that I've ever done and will probably ever do! I tested airplane evacuation slides! The first day was a dark as night simulation and we went into a pitch black warehouse, up some lit up stairs and then corralled us into a room tightly packed together. They said that when the lights started flickering we had to run. So we all started running when the lights flickered and we were in 2 lines. When we turned the corner out of the room, there was the slide. We didn't have time to think we just had to run and jump onto the slide. It was crazy! As soon as all 44 of us had slid down successfully, you literally have to hit the ground running or risk getting trampled on, they turned on the lights. All of these bigwig guys were there from Boeing and other airlines and they reviewed the film and then came out and told us we had passed the test. We all needed to get out in 30 seconds and we did it in 28! Then they answered our questions, it was fascinating! The slide acts like a cars airbag, when they open the plan door it inflates in less than 6 seconds. It can also act as a boat, and they have to test how many people they can fit on it. Then I went back on Thursday thinking it would be more of the same thing, boy was I wrong! This time the warehouse was all lit up, we were all aware of how the slide works and we literally slid down at least 25-30 times! They had us sliding at different air pressures and we had to pass certain times. It was nerve wracking, physically tiring, hot and I was exhausted. I also managed to get 2 bruises on my knee and jammed my ring finger. It's fine, I just can't get my ring off. haha! I signed up for 2 more days in July, but I'm dreading going back. It was so tough!! The pay is amazing though, so if I can stick it out for 2 more days then we will have paid off our Tahoe rental place.

The Wrights from my hometown of Livermore have moved to Arizona! They bought some egg rolls from Ashlyn and picked them up after picking up their grandson from the airport by us. He's going to the at home MTC in their home before he leaves for Tacoma, Wa. It was fun reminiscing with them, they told their grandson that if it hadn't been for my sister Kelli sharing their gospel with their daughter Tricia that he wouldn't be serving a mission.

We are trying to stay cool in the extreme heat that we are having, swimming lots but still managing to get outside for a little exercise.

Happy Fathers Day to my dad, Ricks dad and Rick! We are so grateful for good fathers, they make a world of difference!!

Week in Review...

Ashlyn's been busy drawing lots of characters lately, it's been fun to see her talent blossom...

We got to watch Mathias give a wonderful seminary talk last Sunday, he did a great job!

We were invited to swim at a friends community pool, the kids had lots of fun...

I really want to do this to a wall in my house, once the price of lumber comes down...
We got these cute color changing cups and Abby loves them

Ashlyn is prepping the veggies to make egg rolls on Monday, a fundraiser for Girls camp...
Abby was so good at the dentist, she even talked to the dentist. Well, she said yes that she had received her toothbrush! ha, baby steps! So she got a new doll outfit at Target, she was so excited!!
We got to watch Trevor (Kelli and Jared's son) graduate, I can remember when he was born. We went to the hospital and Zachary was in another room charming all of the nurses while he waited for his mom and dad. Trev Trev was the cutest baby! Now he's a handsome young man!

This week was tough for the kids, all 3 of them got really bad colds so they didn't go to swim team. We are back at it tomorrow! 2 more weeks of school for me and then I'm off all of July!

Week in Review...

I thought this advertisement was featuring my brother Randy, but I guess not....ha!

Ashlyn had her friend Sara over last week, they've been friends since 1st grade....

Ashlyn's sweet young women leader...

The superstition Mountains...

Abby did a baking camp at our neighbor's house this last week, they made lots of yummy things like bagels, french bread, wheat bread, and cinnamon rolls! She was so proud of everything that she made...
We also had a bbq at the park on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day, our neighbors set up their giant slip n slide with the air mats. All of the kids had fun going down it...

Abby did 2 days on the swim team and then decided that she never wanted to go again. It was very hard for her to stay in the water for more than her usual 10 minutes because she's freezing cold. She said it was torture for her. It's true though when we go swimming she swims for 10 minutes and then has to get out and warm up again.  As evidenced in this picture...I pushed her to go and she had a big meltdown, it was something that I probably shouldn't have pushed her on. I'm still learning about anxiety and when to push is always so tough.
I got my hair done, I'm starting to get some grays in my hair so it was time!

Here's Abby with some friends at Bake Camp...

Ashlyn got to go to Flagstaff to an Extreme ropes course for her 4th year high adventure activity! She had so much fun! She was 1 of 2 girls that made it through the whole course, there are 5 levels of difficulty and since she made it all the way through they gave her a bracelet! She had a blast!

Little dare devil girl!!

Showing off her achievement bracelet!!

I talk for the 2nd time in Sunday school and I feel like I'm getting into the swing of it. It's actually a lot of fun!
