On Wednesday I woke up and was walking in our front room and suddenly I hear this squish, squish sound. I look down at my feet and I see water coming up through my floor boards (laminate flooring). After some investigating I found out that our dishwasher, new as of a week ago was leaking! I called our homeowners insurance co and they sent out some restoration guys, who immediately ripped out the wall and the floor and left us with these huge fans and humidifiers which were extremely loud. We had those fans on for two days!
Somehow a hose in the back of our dishwasher had slipped loose, probably while we had pushed the dishwasher into place and was gushing all into our wall and down into the floor. Luckily, we get a new wall and floor out of the deal!
We were supposed to have Activity Days at my house that day, so we moved it to the park. This actually worked out nicely because we were heart attacking our bishops house, who happens to live down the street from me and directly across from the park:). The girls loved playing at the park after we were done.
Seeing those guys rip out the floor so fast, inspired me! Rick and I have been wanting a new floor for awhile now because we laid the laminate in our house about 4 years ago and it was warping and had huge gaps. So the next day, I ripped out our whole family room floor and hallway and started getting rid of the tile in our kitchen which we detest. It shows every little speck of dirt. Rick came home and was madder than mad at me! Apparently I had forgotten to tell him that I was going to demo our whole flooring and he wasn't happy. He forgave me though, because he is just as cheap as I am:) Man, it isn't cheap to have someone rip out your floor. It's messy though, so I think I will have someone rip out the rest of the tile, we will see though...
My poor sick, cranky babe!
I think this is what we are going to go with though....it's a dark tile that looks like wood. I'm a little stressed out as to how this is all going to go down. I have daycare to run, a sick baby to take care of and somehow I need to have someone rip out floors, repair walls, put in floors and I need to have the furniture out so that they can do all of that. We will survive...:)
It's been a while since I have visited your blog! WOW, I am amazed at your energy. You must have similar kitchen tile to what I have in my house. I hate it! It is my nemesis. The only way to really get it clean is to professionally steam clean it because dirt just goes into the pores of the tile and it is impossible to scrub out (believe me, I've tried). I love the wood tile. That is cool! Good luck, that is a huge task.
ReplyDeleteNo fun. Hope everyone feels better soon. Your selection of tile looks great. Hopefully you can get it in soon so you can enjoy it. Good luck!
