Merry Christmas!

We've had a great Christmas week together as a family. My parents have a tradition of sending us Target gift cards for everyone to go and pick out Christmas presents. This year we just happened to get the mail and receive the cards as we were leaving to go to Target! It worked out perfectly. The kids love being able to pick out what they want and it's also teaching them the value of money and to stay within a budget. This year Jacob picked out a fire station lego set, which we promptly put together as soon as we got home. He loves it!
Ashlyn picked out a dog that walks, wags and barks. She also got a Magic 8 ball, some candy and a little notepad.
Haley got the new Taylor Swift CD, a clipboard, note pad and some candy.

On Tuesday the 23rd Rick had his work party on the campus of Grand Canyon University. They served Bobby Q's bbq and had a zip line, bungee jumping, a train and Santa. They also gave out free t-shirts and tickets to their basketball game that night. Haley, Ashlyn, Jacob and I all waited in line for about an hour to go down the zip line. It was fun!
Rick and Abby at the party...
Rick had to  hold a screaming Abby while I went down the zip line, so he missed getting a pic of Haley going down, but here I am at the bottom....

Here's Jacob getting off, he chickened out at first but then when he saw me go down he found the confidence to try it.
Eating dinner on the lawn...
On Christmas Eve, Rick took the kids and Haleys friend Alyssa hiking on South Mountain. They had a great time!

I was really sick this last week with a bad sinus infection and we got a special delivery on Christmas Eve from my parents that totally made me feel so much better:)
After reading the Christmas story and having a special program, and opening up special Christmas Eve jammies the kids snuggled down to watch some Frosty the snowman before going to bed.

Here are some pics of their jammies...
The kids were so excited to wake up on Christmas day to see if Santa had arrived! He had! Ashlyn asked for a whale beanie boo and Jacob asked for a BB gun, they both must have been good this year. Here is Ashlyn with her treasures, she got a pogo bounce which I also had as a kid, a bow and arrow and other fun things...
Jacob got a rollercoaster set, a flying helicopter and other toys.
Abby got a little toy smartphone, a kitchen and an elephant beanie boo.

Haley got a ukelele, a wallet, earrings and some new clothes.
As a family we got a lot of games and the movie, Frozen! We were spoiled from Ricks parents too, we appreciate both sides!

We decorated cookies...

Abby played with the frosting...
On Saturday we went and did another annual tradition of going to Scottsdale to ride on the little train and carousel, the kids love it.

Here's Ashlyn going down the zipline, you can hear Abby screaming! She did not want her mommy going down the zip line!
Rick filmed the room before the kids came in to see if Santa came...
Here's the kids as they entered the room, Ashlyn and Jacob were pretty excited that the elves were playing with their toys! Abby loves her new kitchen!
It was a great Christmas!

Week in Review...

This week we made our neighbor treats to hand out, peanut butter balls! It's becoming an annual tradition ever since I heard that Liz Hatch used to make them every year. I think about her every time that I make them. We used the extra chocolate to make some chocolate lollipops.
For Young Men/Young Womens this week the kids loaded up onto this awesome float and went caroling!! So fun! There was this lit up Santa in the back that actually waved!!

Here's the yummy peanut butter balls...
Abby loves to get a long object like a pen, or a stick and bop it up and down into a cup or bowl. She can do this for a long time!
Checking to see if anyone is coming to visit...
Nope:(
Love her pretty blue eyes!
Helping mom to sweep up...
The kids found the elves doing some acrobatics this morning...
I went and volunteered in Jacobs class this morning to help with making candy trains. It was fun and the kids loved it!

I bought this beautiful white dress for Haley when she was just a baby and hung it in her closet and totally forgot about it! Then I was determined to remember for Ashlyn and that didn't happen, so I've had it hanging on Abbys wall so that I wouldn't forget to have her wear it! Today was the day! Pulled off the tags and it fit her like a charm, so cute! She thought it was pretty fun to wear:)

We went and looked at Christmas lights the other night and this was the winner of the night. It was lit up like the 4th of July:)

Ashlyn got invited to a birthday party after school on Friday. It was pretty amazing, they had a huge bounce house, they hired a truck to haul in a ton of snow so the kids could play in the snow! They also had cookie decorating, pizza and a professional face painter! Wow!! She had fun! Here's the phoenix that she had painted on her:)

Update on Abby's eating: She will eat everything now!!! She willingly opens her mouth when we feed her and is eating all of the time like a total champ!! Rick and I went to Cafe Rio the other night for a date night and brought her along and I was feeding her pinto beans and rice and she was loving it. I'm so grateful that she is eating now! It was a tough trial, but with a little patience, perseverance and a lot of great advice and techniques I think we have overcome!!
