Week in Review…

It's been quite an eventful week! On Sunday, we drove home from California. It was good to be home after so long on the road. We miss the family so much, and we are so grateful that we could visit with them. On Thursday, I got a scary text from Ashlyn that she might get evacuated because a fire was getting too close. Another minute later, she said they were getting evacuated. They were going to Fredonia, which is 30 minutes away, but because all of the roads were closed, it took them 3 hours to get there. They were going to stay in a church on cots, but the Bishop of Fredonia was so kind as to open up his home to all of the workers. So 30 people stayed at his house on the couches. Ashlyn didn't get great sleep, and they were saying that the earliest they could possibly go back would be Monday night, so she wanted to come home. I agreed.  Jacob was at FSY in Flagstaff, so I checked him out early and we both drove Ashlyn home so she could rest. She got a great night's sleep on her bed and then wanted to go swimming. We went to Mesa High, so we could relax in the lazy river...

She took some scary pics as they were evacuating...

I was planting some new flowers on Saturday and found this huge scorpion on our front porch! He was huge! At least 3-4 inches long, and he kept coming for me, so Rick swept him into the street, where the temperature of the asphalt quickly cooked him.
Ashlyn's happy to be visiting with the dogs...
There's some beautiful rest stops along the way to Flagstaff...with views of the Grand Canyon!

The kids wanted Chic Fil A for lunch...

When we were in California, we picked up Jacob in Sacramento and visited Sutter's Fort while we were there. It seemed familiar, I may have gone on a field trip there growing up...
We were so blessed to visit both sides this summer...

We went kayaking...

Cute Ash before getting evacuated...

We got to see the fireworks right where they were lit off...

And the fire that started from the fireworks...

We went to the beach, it was super cold and windy!

I got to visit with my brother Randy, and his cute wife Lindsay and son Mathias. They even let me drive their Tesla! So fun visiting with them...

We played lots of games...
And even installed a new security door...

We are grateful that Ashlyn is home safe, and that she gets to visit for awhile. She's hoping she gets to go back soon because she has more places she wants to visit and make more money.
