Week in Review..

We had another eventful week! Rick and Ashlyn had 2 soccer practices this week and a soccer game. Jacob had scouts and Haley had a YW's activity. We had some dumpsters delivered to our neighborhood for a neighborhood clean up event and we love to go dumpster diving to find treasures! I found an adirondack chair that I'm going to paint and this really old cool table. The leaves on the side can go down or they can stay up, the top was badly rusted and the wood was peeling off. It looked like it had been stored outside, so I knew that I would need to sand it down. As I was sanding, the wood kept peeling off, so I decided that I need to take off the whole top layer of wood in order for it to look nice. So that's where I'm at right now, trying to peel off the top layer, here is my progress so far...

I also had Activity days where we learned some cardio drills and did a yoga session, the girls loved it!

On Friday, I met Rick at the Mesa Temple and we did sealings for 16 family names! It was so neat!! Rick was able to stand in for Papa as he was sealed to his parents Herbert Christian Hahn and Lillian May Hulsizer Hahn. The spirit was very strong and I felt the presence of Papa in the room. I felt overjoyed and couldn't stop the tears! So grateful for the precious temple ordinances! I'm addicted to family search! I've added four generations of pictures to family search and ancestry.com, it is so much fun being able to put a face with a name. Randy is able to find all of these neat pictures, it's been so fun!

On Saturday we had a very busy day! We started out by trimming our front tree, then we went to the lake and swam and played on the beach and then we went to a neighborhood dance party! Rick and I learned how to swing dance!

I also caught Ashlyn reading....wahoo!!

These are our neighbors the Burnetts, their daughter Holly was born 1 day after Abby in the same hospital. I even visited Lindi in the hospital a day after Holly was born, I wheeled Abby down in her little bassinet and in my hospital gown because I was the compassionate service leader. She is now pregnant with twins! So exciting!
Holly and Abby dancing at the party...

Our oranges are growing on our tree...

The lake was freezing, but I acclimated pretty quickly. Of course, then it was hard to get out of the water...love the lake!

Two weeks in Review...

Yesterday we went to our neighbors high school play of Little Women, Savannah played "Amy" and did such a great job! It was fun to go and watch!
Our garden is blossoming! We just laid seed for grass all along the edges of the yard and had to lay down all sorts of netting because of the many birds that frequent our backyard.
It's so exciting to be able to have a garden and watch it grow. We are all loving the process!

Our orange tree is doing really good too!
Last Saturday Jacob attended day camp and was gone all day long! He had such a great time!

Moroni even came! The theme was on Book of Mormon heroes!

It looks like a beautiful place for a camping spot!

Last Thursday Ricks parents came to town because Haley was in her special Junior High Festival Orchestra concert. They performed at the Mesa Arts Center and while we were waiting to go inside we found these awesome red chairs! They spin like a top!

They were so fun!

Rick took his parents out on Saturday for some kayaking! They had lots of fun!

Can you see the heron?
This was the only shot that I got of Haley after her concert, too bad it is blurry.
One night we had dinner at Robs house and the kids always love riding in the car...

Rick skateboarding...

Abby likes to hide away in this little cupboard that we got for outside balls...

I wrote this as my Facebook status this last week..
I have to apologize to anyone that I've offended in the last few weeks with texts. Apparently my phone has been sending out the exact opposite emoji that I thought I was sending out! A few weeks ago my daughter sent me a text about how she wasn't feeling good, so I sent her a sad emoji. It had a tear rolling down it's face. She texted me back, why is that funny? Why are you laughing??? My phone showed a sad face, but when she got home she showed me her phone and it showed a laughing face!! Then today I texted my husband a laughing face and he asked why I was sad????!!!! Crazy iphone!!

Last Sunday our stake boundaries were changed to make each ward a little bit smaller. We were nearing the maximum # in each ward and so they took about 20% of our ward away:(. The neighborhood that got moved away consisted of a lot of people who have been in the ward for 20+ years and were very sad. It will be interesting to see what happens because we lost a lot of callings and now we need to absorb them which will mean double callings for a lot of people. One hope that we do have though is that they're building a new neighborhood of homes that are in our ward, so we are hoping that new member families will move into those homes:). Change is hard sometimes.

Rick is loving being Ashlyn's soccer coach. They lost their first game but won their second game, and the kids are learning and growing.
